Veteran driver Rodger Brogdon with join Elite Motorsports Pro Stock drivers Erica Enders, Jeg Coughlin Jr., and Alex Laughlin this season.
Brogdon, who returned to the class last year after a two-year absence, will run the full 2019 season in a Camaro.
Brogdon said the change to 18 events for the Pro Stock class helped him decide to return. “I was on the fence and then when the new schedule was confirmed, I knew I was coming back,” he said. [01/16/19]
The Cruzer will say so long to the Toyota Camry body.
Cruz Pedregon has announced he will make the switch from Toyota to Dodge Charger bodies for his Funny Car this season. He also will return to tuning the Snap-on car himself, although Glen Huszar will be the crew chief and Nick Casertano will be assistant crew chief.
Also in Dodge Funny Cars are Don Schumacher Racing drivers Jack Beckman, Ron Capps, Matt Hagan, Tommy Johnson Jr. Bob Bode Jr. and Jim Campbell are also at the wheel of Dodges. [01/16/19]
The amount of money on the line for two sportsman events at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, OH, has been increased.
The $40 Grand Nationals presented by Hughes Performance (formerly the $10 Grand Nationals) is set for Aug. 30-Sept. 1 with a total payout of $262,875. The winners will receive $15,000 on Friday, $40,000 on Saturday and $20,000 on Sunday. The number of entries will be limited to 425 with a three-day entry fee of $600 for car and driver.
The 23rd annual No Box Bonanza presented by Injector Experts will be Sept. 27-29 with a total payout of $131,100. $7,500 will go to the Friday winner, $20,000 on Saturday and $10,000 to the Sunday winner. The number of entries will be limited to 425 with a three-day entry fee of $300 per car and driver.
Both events will be contested on the eighth mile. [01/16/19]
Holley Mustang Muscle Car EFI Pump Modules
Holley’s new 1964-70 Mustang Muscle Car EFI Pump Modules make it easy to convert your carbureted fuel system to EFI. Capable of supporting up to 550 horsepower, the eliminate the need for a new fuel tank or any fabrication or modifications. Fuel pressure is preset at 58 PSI and regulated internally. These modules come with a 255 pound-per-hour in-tank fuel pump and Holley’s HydraMat fuel reservoir. Each kit comes with fuel-gauge float arms for three different tank capacities: 16 gallons (1964-68 Mustangs), 20 gallons (1969 Mustangs) and 22 gallons (1970 Mustangs). [01/16/19]
