Spinozzi brothers hope more testing will bring a ‘5’

When brothers Emilio and Adamo Spinozzi announced their intentions to compete in the 400 Thunder Pro Slammer class, not even they would have expected to be in the top five of the points at the halfway point of the season.

With eyes on further improvement at this weekend's (Jan. 18-19) Santo's Summer Thunder event at Sydney Dragway, the Speedmaster Chevelle may finish even higher in the rankings.

“We are still learning with every run,” said Spinozzi. “Some people have asked us why we haven't been in the fives yet, and the answer is that we don't want to just run a number and not know why the car performed the way it did. We want to know how each section of the car relates to the next. That's why you see guys like Paul Mouhayet and John Zappia testing even after the amount of wins they have had – because there is always something to learn with these 3,000 horsepower Pro Slammers.”

Team Bray confident heading into Summer Thunder

On the heels of the Spinozzi brothers in sixth and seventh places are father and son Victor and Ben Bray, who between them have over five decades of supercharged doorslammer experience.

The team has had a good start for the 2018/19 Australian season.

“With plenty of 5.70s and 5.80s runs earlier this month across multiple outings we are feeling like we have a strong package together and are really hoping to continue that momentum as we head to Sydney Dragway for the Santo’s Summer Thunder event,” Ben explained.

“Both Ben and I have run our ‘Personal Bests’ at Sydney Dragway and at this event back in 2017 we even enjoyed an all-Bray final which was something pretty special,” Team Bray Racing principal and drag racing legend, Victor Bray, said.

Husen moves from Brittany Force to Mike Salinas team

Brian Husen will take over the tuning duties on Mike Salinas’ Top Fuel dragster (shown) this season. Alan Johnson will continue to be advisor to the team.

Husen joined Brittany Force’s team in 2016, but he has worked with Johnson on several teams over the years. Reportedly, former crewmembers of Ms. Force’s team will be moving to the Scrappers dragster also.

The Agent must wonder if there is trouble in the JFR camp?

Who are the entrants?

Checking the NHRA website, the Agent was surprised to see that the usual list of entrants for the national events was missing from the Event Info. With the Winternationals three weeks away, is the Agent just over-anxious or is the NHRA just behind the power curve?
