Rance dominates two classes at LS Fest West

Texan Casey Rance had quite a time at Holley’s LS Fest West May 3-5 at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Rance dominated the LS Outlaw 275 class, setting Low ET and Top Speed and winning the eliminator in his Nissan 240ZX. They he duplicated his efforts in the Late Model Heads Up class see here.

Bruce Crower honored by SEMA Hall of Fame

Bruce Crower is one of three people who will receive the automotive specialty-equipment industry’s highest honor as the newest members of the SEMA Hall of Fame. Crower founded Crower Racing Cams & Equipment Co. in 1955 in San Diego, CA, and began manufacturing race products.

 

The other two inductees are Bob Chandler, creator and owner of the “Bigfoot” monster truck, and Marla Moore, a volunteer who advocates for the industry and mentors the younger generation.

 

The three will be recognized at the SEMA Installation & Gala, Friday, July 26, at the Anaheim Marriott in Anaheim, CA. Go to www.sema.org/gala for more information or tickets.    

More teams qualify for HROT Dual Championship competitions

Two events were held on May 4 with each qualifying teams to vie for the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow National Dual Championship to be held at the SEMA and the PRI Shows at the end of the year.

 

At the Torrance, CA, event, Santiago High School sponsored by Edelbrock and Rancho Alamitos High School sponsored by Hedman qualified. Three team qualified at the event held in Champaign, IL: Summit Racing-sponsored Lakeshore High School, JEGS Performance-sponsored South Elgin High School and Performance Quotient-sponsored Fremd High School.  

Pro Mods will duel Altereds at Texas showdown

North Star Dragway is gearing up for their biggest race of the summer, the 7th Annual Pro Mod -vs- Fuel Altered Showdown in Denton, Texas. Fuel Altereds have held top honors in recent years in his heads up, no rules, $5,000 to win shootout won last year by Mark Billington (shown).

 

The quickest eight Pro Mods and quickest eight Fuel Altereds qualify for the 16-car run whatcha' brung field set to compete June 28-29. More information can be found at http://www.promodfuelalteredshowdown.com    

Off the Track: Burkster on the Mend

He’s been keeping a low profile for the past few weeks as he battled a severe cold, but editor Jeff Burk finally went to see the doctor to make sure it wasn’t pneumonia (it was NOT). A course of antibiotics will soon have him back walking Ace the coonhound, who has become contented to sleep on top of Burk in the old Burkalounger.
