John Hall’s return to this weekend’s competition at Virginia Motorsports Park will be especially significant, with the logos of the B.R.A.K.E.S. (Be Responsible and Keep Everyone Safe) national teen defensive driving program adorning his Pro Stock Motorcycle, racing suit and helmet.
The father of two teens who previously participated in B.R.A.K.E.S. classes, Hall, along with his wife Ivette, decided to team with B.R.A.K.E.S. not only because of their longtime association with Herbert, but also because of the inspiration generated by 14-time national drag racing champion Terry Vance, who donated $1 million to B.R.A.K.E.S. during February’s NHRA Winternationals in Pomona.
“Beyond his incredible generosity, Terry Vance inspired all of us to do what we can to spread the word about Doug’s program,” Hall said. “For those of us in this drag racing community, it’s essential that we use our platforms to extend the B.R.A.K.E.S. message about the critical importance of teen defensive driving.” [05/17/19]
Admission passes to the VIP tent include a catered lunch buffet on Saturday, and brunch on Sunday. A cash bar will be set up for guests as well. On top of general admission or reserved tickets, passes to the Chiefs Ambassadors VIP tent are available while supplies last at $125/day or $225 for the Saturday & Sunday combo pass and can be purchased online at heartlandmotorsportspark.us/nhra or by calling Heartland Motorsports Park at 785-861-7899. Looking to boost sagging attendance and television ratings, NASCAR believes in-race betting will make a difference. The management has signed an exclusive data partnership with Genius Sports that will allow Genius to create a betting platform that provides traditional wagers and “prop bets” such as the number of lead changes or whether a Chevy will win.
Sports leagues and teams typically see increased engagement when live betting is offered. Will it work? Will NHRA follow suit? Well, the Agent has watched as dollar bills were exchanged on the fence at a few drag races over the years. [05/17/19]

Includes ½” NPT fittings that could be used for supercharger drainback and oil temperature senders. Also includes 22 mm fitting for a factory oil-level sensor. [05/17/19]
