NOT SPINNING OUR WHEELS

Jeff...Best argument I've heard yet for traction control. Particularly the next-to-last (or penultimate, as Economaki would say) paragraph. If it reduces engine explosions and thus downtime, and ultimately costs, it can't be all that bad.

NHRA HAS EXCITEMENT; IHRA NOTHIN' BUT ATTITUDE

I have been an avid drag racer for over 21 years. I have been attending NHRA national events since 1972. I am only 35 years young. I live in Ohio, about an hour from Cincinnati, and Columbus. I am in a good location to attend many drag strips. I only attend NHRA national events. I have been to Norwalk Raceway for "special events" and I must admit that they have been SPECTACULAR!!! Last year's "Night of Fire" was probably if not the best special event I have ever witnessed!! But, I agree 100% that IHRA needs to get there #*&@ together. After 9-11 we the people of the USA are getting real choosy on how we spend the "All mighty dollar!" Yes, the ticket prices higher for an NHRA national event than an IHRA national event. But, look at NASCAR ticket prices or Indy Car ticket prices.

When I go to an NHRA national event the last thing on my mind is the ticket price. I go for EXCITEMENT, side-side drag racing, and the venue. I know that I am getting my money's worth and much, much more!! Would I ever go to an IHRA national event? I don't know; it would have to be for a very special reason. And quite frankly I have yet seen a special reason to attend an IHRA national event. I am not a Marketing Manager, but if one took a poll, between who is John Force and who is Bruce Litton. Well, we all know how that poll would look!?

Thank you for the time to speak.

C-y at the NHRA drag races.

WELL, YOU'VE HEARD OF MONSTER TRUCKS, HAVEN'T YOU?

I just saw the photos of Schumacher's new Dodge Stratus flopper bodies on the NHRA web site. If that is a Dodge Stratus, then Bernstein's 1987 Le Sabre was really a 1987 Le Sabre. It was radical as hell then, but compare it with the Stratus and the Le Sabre looked more like a Le Sabre than I gave it credit. I called it a "monster from a B-grade movie" then. I was wrong.

HERE'S ONE FAN

As a drag racing fan of over 30 years (first race 1969 March Meet), I wanted to tell ya that as far as fans opinions, (Burk) hit it right on the head in (his) column of 1/17. In the paragraph of "What fans and racers really want to see..." I couldn't agree MORE!!!!

Keep up the good work. I really enjoy DRO, and the new format is cool!! Looking forward to a fast and quick 2003!

Thanks

Alan Davidson
