Corradi, Hood to co-crew chief on Courtney’s Funny Car

Brian Corradi, most recently a co-crew chief with Mark Oswald of Antron Brown’s Top Fuel dragsters, will join John Force Racing as co-crew chief along with Daniel Hood on the Camaro FC driven by Courtney Force.

 

Corradi and Hood both worked on Dean Skuza’s Funny Car several years ago.

 

Corradi reportedly left Don Schumacher Racing at the end of last season. This should add a little bit of fuel to the rivalry between JFR and DSR.  (DRO file photo by Todd Dziadosz)  [01/09/18]

SHRA announces 2018 schedule

The Southwestern Heritage Racing Association has released their race schedule, adding two tracks for 2018, Pine Valley Raceway in Lufkin, TX, and Xtreme Raceway Park in Ferris, TX.

 

New sponsor for the series is the Red Line Shirt Club, a membership T-shirt company.

‘Eleanor’ redux

The 2000 movie Gone in 60 Seconds popularized the Eleanor Mustang that was first introduced in 1974. H.B. “Toby” Halicki created and starred in the 1974 movie. Now his wife, Denise Halicki, has officially licensed the Eleanor Mustang to Fusion Motor Company.

 

Fusion president, Yoel Wazana, bought one of the first Eleanor tribute cars, but was not happy with the quality of the build. Years later Wazana has gotten the official OK to build the car to his standards. Ah, those antipodes!

While most of the USA deals with record cold temperatures, it is summer in the Southern Hemisphere. DRO Australian correspondent Jon Van Daal reports that Penrith, about 20 minutes’ drive from Sydney Dragway, on Sunday set the record for the hottest place on earth in a 24-hour period at 47.3 degrees Celsius (117.14 Fahrenheit). At the same time it was 4 degrees Fahrenheit (-15.55 Celsius) on the Phlegm Building porch.   [01/09/18]
