AGENT 1320
Tibor Kadar from Peoria, AZ, won Pro on Friday and was runner-up on Saturday, resulting in the 2019 Shootout Points Championship. His prize was a new Lincoln MIG welder.
Tucson Dragway was the site of the third edition of the K&N Southwest Showdown promoted by Shawn Langdon and Chris Forsythe. There were 231 racers vying for wins on March 7-10.
The three Super Pro winners who got $10,000 each were Lori Warden, Peter Biondo and Andy Morris. Tibor Kadar, Tony Marconi and Matt Hawk each got $4,500 for their Pro category wins.
Two 64-car bonus fields were scheduled for Friday night, but were moved to Saturday because of the weather. Ken Whitfield picked up $20K in Pro and Biondo another $10.
Best Appearing Car was awarded to Kale Menzel from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. His wheel-standing Dodge Dart was a crowd favorite and was runner-up to Kadar on Friday. [03/13/19]
DRO’s Motorcycle Editor, Tom McCarthy, tells the Agent that the NHDRO and Man Cup have partnered and motorcycle drag racers who race the NHDRO Gainesville race (April 12 ) or the Man Cup Dragway 42 event (July 14), will garner championship points from each sanction respectively for each event. So Man Cup and NHDRO racers can now pick up extra points by racing in the affiliated sanction.
See the rest of McCarthy’s Motorcycle Memos here. [03/13/19]
No one was the winner of the Powerball of Bracket Racing at Darlington Dragway as Sunday (March 10) racing was called on account of rain and water on the track.
Racers at Darlington will have a $600 credit to use at any 2019 SFG Promotions event. The next event for SFG is the Superbowl of Bracket Racing at Rockingham Dragway on April 11-14. Or maybe put it towards the hefty $1650 entry fee for the $500,000-to-win event at US 131 Motorsports Park in June. [03/13/19]
The award is named for legendary racer Don Garlits’ late wife, Pat. The Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing and International Drag Racing Hall of Fame is located in Ocala. [03/13/19]
Don Schumacher Racing’s Senior Vice President, Mike Lewis, will be part of the 2019 class inducted to the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame during the Thursday night ceremony. Lewis’ honor comes just two days after team owner Don Schumacher’s induction into the prestigious Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in Daytona Beach, FL. [03/13/19]
Red Line RL-600 Brake Fluid
Red Line Synthetic Oil’s RL-600 Full Synthetic Brake Fluid is ready for use in road vehicles, race cars, off-roaders and motorcycles. RL-600 is a DOT 4 brake fluid engineered using a strict combination of Borate Esters and Glycol Ethers, in addition to specific moisture and corrosion inhibitors. RL-600 is developed to resist these issues and maintain lubricity, compressibility and viscosity under the most extreme conditions at the race track or on the street. The fluid has a dry boiling point of 604 degrees Fahrenheit and wet boiling point of 400 degrees Fahrenheit, far greater than the minimum requirement for DOT 4 brake fluids. Additionally, Red Line’s RL-600 can blend with DOT 3, DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 brake fluids, delivering more responsive and consistent pedal feel. [03/13/19]
