After a couple of days at the St. Louis NHRA event, the Burkster has changed his mind. (What?!) Read what all he has to say in his latest Burk’s Blast here. [10/02/19]
Terry Smith, Dan Steed, and Jeff Taylor (shown) headlined the nine champions crowned at the JEGS SPORTSnationals at National Trail Raceway. Smith earned the title in Comp Eliminator, Steed picked up his first NHRA national event win in Super Stock, and Taylor won Stock for his 46th career victory.
See the action at here.
Each of the champions crowned received a special edition copper NHRA Wally trophy, available only at the JEGS SPORTSnationals. Next year, each of the winners also will be eligible for the JEGS Crown, a special handcrafted trophy that goes to any driver who can win back-to-back JEGS SPORTSnationals titles in the same class. Sebring International Raceway is best known as a sports car/endurance track, but it has embraced “no prep” drag racing by using the front stretch as a drag strip.
John Platt Jr., of Cocoa, FL, recently ran the first ever 4-second pass. He had set the record of 5.036 on the eighth mile in June, but on Thursday, Sept. 26, Platt ran a record 4.993 and then backed it up with an even better 4.980. He collected a $1,000 track record bonus and also won the Big Tire Quick 8. [10/02/19]
Five-time Pro Stock champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. will lead a stable of Team JEGS drivers in bringing pink-colored racecars to drag strips across the country this October to raise awareness for breast cancer. For the Coughlin family, the pink cars symbolize much more than a month of mindfulness. Rather, it reinforces a never-ending commitment they made to eradicate the disease forever.
Like several other teams in NHRA competition, many of whom are supportive of the JEGS Foundation, all Team JEGS cars will feature pink schemes to remind fans of the ongoing fight against all forms of cancer. Jeg Jr.'s JEGS.com Elite Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro will be the most prominent with a full pink design highlighted by the JEGS Foundation ribbon sprawled across the hood.
To date, the JEGS Foundation has donated more than $15 million to help transform cancer treatment and research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, including the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. [10/02/19]
The Agent saw in Bloomberg News that Coca-Cola Co., which earlier this year launched Coke Energy in several overseas markets including the U.K. and Germany, said it will bring the product to the U.S. in January.
With soda consumption falling, the new product will make Coke more competitive with Red Bull and Monster energy drinks. Coke Energy, which will be sold in 12-ounce cans, has about the same amount of sugar as a standard Coke of the same size, and roughly three times the caffeine.
Could a new title sponsor for the NHRA pro series be coming? Sounds like a natural to us. [10/02/19]
MSD Pro 600 CDI Capacitive-Discharge Ignition
The MSD PRO 600 CDI is an innovative eight-channel capacitive-discharge ignition developed specifically for high-horsepower applications with extreme cylinder pressure and coil-near-plug engine-management systems. Compatible with Holley EFI, GM LS platforms, and virtually any EFI setup (both 5v and 12v drivers), it's perfect for the high cylinder pressure developed by supercharged, turbocharged, and nitrous engines. This powerful, versatile ignition works with almost any coil-per-plug engine up to eight cylinders – including four- and six-cylinder applications – and can even convert a distributor-type ignition into a coil-near-plug system. High-efficiency AC power delivery means less voltage draw from your battery or charging system, and it has diagnostic LEDs to troubleshoot potential issues with any individual coil, built-in protection for accidental reverse battery connection, and over-temperature protection. The PRO 600 CDI is a direct plugin to Holley EFI systems, features a plugin interface for the MSD Power Grid and Davis profiler, and comes complete with all the necessary wiring harnesses for a hassle-free installation.
