This weekend’s Santo’s Summer Thunder event at Sydney Dragway will mark the second outing for PremiAir Hire Racing’s new Top Fuel dragster following its perfect debut at the same venue late last year. At November’s East Coast Thunder – the opening round of the 2019/2020 400 Thunder Top Fuel Championship – the team not only reset its own ET and MPH personal bests but also won the event.
After missing round two of the title chase due to work commitments, the team is now back and ready to see if they can kick off 2020 with another victory.
NHRA driver and tuner Dom Lagana will be returning to Australia to drive for the Rapisarda Autosport International team alongside fellow American Ashley Sanford and local stars Wayne Newby and Damien Harris. [01/13/20]
Throughout the 2020 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season, Tommy Johnson Jr. will represent The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, one of the world's most respected centers focused on cancer patient care, research, education and prevention, by campaigning the MD Anderson Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat.
Sponsor Doug Chandler made the decision to ‘spread the giving car love’ by fielding an MD Anderson car full-time in 2020 with Johnson at the wheel. Teammate Jack Beckman piloted the MD Anderson Dodge during the 2019 SpringNationals in Houston. Beckman, a U.S. Air Force veteran, will continue to serve as an ambassador for returning soldiers and their families by promoting the Infinite Hero Foundation on his Hellcat throughout 2020. The revived American Drag Racing League has announced two dates this year at World Wide Technology Raceway near St. Louis. The 2020 season will begin April 3-4 and the famous Dragstock event will be held Oct. 16-17.

Two GM engineers were ticketed last week by the Kentucky State Police after street racing two new C8 Corvettes in Bowling Green, KY.
The two were charged with exceeding the 45-mph speed limit by at least 26 mph and the cars were taken to the impound lot. Bowling Green is the home of Corvette production but Kentucky takes a dim view of this behavior.
Come on, guys, there’s a drag strip right there! [01/13/20]
