Mickey Thompson expands radial program at NMCA

The NMCA Muscle Car Nationals and Mickey Thompson Tires and Wheels have created a unique Radial-based program that includes the Street Outlaw category at three national events: Atlanta Dragway (Apr. 2-5), World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway (May 28-31), and Route 66 Raceway (July 30-Aug. 2). There will be a special Radial Rampage shootout at World Wide Technology at Gateway (Madison, IL), which adds Radial vs. The World and Limited Drag Radial.

 

“We are thrilled to create the Radial Rampage at World Wide Technology Raceway that will feature Friday evening qualifying and Saturday night eliminations. In addition, Edelbrock Xtreme Street will join the three radial-based eliminators for a complete four-class Radial program,” said Rollie Miller, General Manager and National Event Director of the NMCA Muscle Car Nationals.

Hot Rod Power Tour scheduled for Midwest tour

Celebrating 26 years in 2020, the HOT ROD Power Tour will once again roll through the heartland of hot rod culture as it returns to the Midwest. Seven go into Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame

Seven inductees will be recognized for their contributions to the advancement of motorsports in Canada at the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame ceremony at the Canadian International Auto show on Feb. 15.

 

The inductees are former Formula 1 driver and driving school owner Allen Berg; road racer and Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame co-founder Gary Magwood; driver and high-performance instructor Robin Buck, Canadian Snowcross Racing Association co-founder and NASCAR team owner Ed Hakonson; driver and builder Larry Caruso; Canadian Grand Prix promoter Norman Legault; and international competitor Bruno Spengler. 

Patisons retire from Lucas Oil

Robert “Bob” Patison, long term executive vice president of Lucas Oil Products, president of MAVTV, and former general counsel, retired effective Dec. 31, 2019.

 

Bob’s wife, Dawn Patison, is also retiring from the company after 25 years of service. Dawn held the position of studio operations director and played a role in the formation of the Lucas Oil Production Studios.

The company has not announced who will assume the responsibilities of Bob and Dawn. 

Off the Track: ‘Moon Rocket’ makes appearance at Roadster Show

The 1955 T-Bird “Moon Rocket” will be among the classic cars on display at the Grand National Roadster Show held Jan. 24-26 at the Fairplex in Pomona, CA. The car, owned by Joe Hickenbottom, was customized when new and won many awards on the show circuit. It has been stored away for 50 years.
