Leah Pritchett in a Challenger Demon against Papa John’s Camaro at Route 66 Raceway earlier this year.
Leah Pritchett may be fourth in the NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel points going into the Fallnationals, but she is No. 1 against her primary sponsor.
The last of five Charity Challenge races between Pritchett and Papa John's founder and chairman John H. Schnatter in his classic 1971 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 will be Friday afternoon. Pritchett is undefeated with her supercharged Gen III HEMI in a 2017 Dodge Challenger configured for drag racing.
DSR owner Don Schumacher and Schnatter each contributed $10,000 at each Charity Challenge and the total raised for the Infinite Hero Foundation will be $100,000 after Friday's race.[10/13/17]
Farnell added, “At the same time, Ben has just purchased a Junior Dragster for his son Zac, so that is one of my next projects to try and get onto the track.” [10/13/17]

Tulsa track co-owner Keith Haney will be among the racers at T-Town. Coming off a second-round finish at last weekend’s No Mercy 8 at SGMP, Haney will drive his nitrous-boosted “Enigma” Camaro in Radial vs. the World. He will also drive his other Camaro “Notorious” in the Pro Mod class.
Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park will be the site this weekend (Oct. 13-14), for the Mid-West Pro Mod Series (MWPMS) World Finals, held in conjunction with the annual Throwdown in T-Town.
Champions will be crowned in Pro Mod, Radial vs. the World, X275 and MX235 racing on the eighth mile. Eddie Rogers currently leads the Pro Mod points; Brandon Pesz leads Radial vs. the World; and Kenny Hubbard has a slim lead in X275. Phil Reichardt and Brian Edwards will fight for the MX235 championship as well as $20,000 that goes to the Tulsa winner, the largest payday in the history of the class.
Fans will be admitted free just by downloading tickets from a link on the track’s web site at www.tulsaracewaypark.com. [10/13/17]
Greg “Jake” Jacobsmeyer and his Allstar Dodge team will be at Bowling Green, KY, this weekend for the Goodguys Nostalgia Nationals. The St. Louis driver was the Nostalgia Funny Car winner at the Holley Hot Rod Reunion in June and hopes to hoist a trophy again at the track. [10/13/17]
Ron Capps got the second-round win over teammate Jack Beckman at St. Louis and went on for the final-round win.
Ron Capps and the NAPA AUTO PARTS Funny Car team proved last season that they could earn the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series world championship without winning a race in the six-event Countdown to the Championship playoff.
This year the Dodge Charger R/T Powered by Pennzoil team and led by crew chief Rahn Tobler and assistant Eric Lane with the NAPA AutoCare Center crew are ready to show they can collect Countdown trophies and win a second straight world title.
Capps arrived at the NHRA Fallnationals on Friday at the Texas Motorplex on a two-race winning streak that has produced a career-best eight NHRA Wally Trophies in this year's first 21 races.
"To get these last two wins is awesome," said Capps, who owns one Top Fuel and 57 Funny Car titles in his career. Included in that inventory is one at the Motorplex, but that goes back to 1998 although he advanced to final round a year ago when he lost to Don Schumacher Racing teammate Matt Hagan.
Tobler has focused on improving the team's performance in cooler conditions and that paid off at the last two events when he qualified No. 3 both times.
"We made a conscious decision to improve our performance in cooler conditions," Capps said. "Come raceday we know we can run with any of these teams especially under adverse conditions like when it's hot." [10/13/17]
