Kearney Raceway Park saluted U.S. service members and veterans with their annual Armed Forces Race to Victory on June 23. The Nebraska track hosted an Honor Guard from the American Legion and a strong turnout of funny cars from the Rocky Mountain Superchargers.
Wayne's World Racing brought their “Prairie Fire” Mustang from Texas to give their new shoe, Nick Johnson, an opportunity to get some seat time.
A brand-new car, Matt Nissen's Corvette, made its first ever passes on the Kearney quarter mile. Nissen is the reigning Pro Supercharged/AllStars Champion with the Superchargers group and he looks to continue his winning ways in the Competition Products Funny Car Rampage series.
North Dakota's Wetsch and Chase team gave the crowd the most thrilling pass of the day when the "Wicked Quick" '57 Chevrolet funny blasted to a 212 MPH top speed of the meet.
Tom Furches had his "Made in America" resplendent in patriotic colors.
Scott Dominguez's sinister-looking black Fiat funny showed the crowd the performances that have won them so many fans.
Next up for the Rocky Mountain Superchargers is a Funny Car Invitational at Yellowstone Dragstrip in Billings, MT, on July 7-8. [06/28/18]
Three days of racing (Friday-Sunday) will pay $10,000 to each day’s winner. In addition, Gamblers Races will be held on Thursday (and Friday, if time allows). [06/28/18]
A celebration of life honoring Tom “Mongoose” McEwen will be held Saturday, July 14, at 2 p.m. at the Sheraton Conference Center at 601 W. McKinley Ave. on the Fairplex in Pomona, CA. The drag racing legend died June 10 at age 81.
To assist in planning, attendees are asked to RSVP to the NHRA Motorsports Museum at lfisher@nhra.com. [06/28/18]
