Brittany will carry Advance Auto Parts colors in June

Reigning Top Fuel world champion Brittany Force will be racing the Advance Auto Parts Monster Energy dragster in the month of June. The eight-time event winner has partnered with Advance Auto Parts for the JEGS Route 66 NHRA Nationals in Chicago, the NHRA Virginia Nationals in Richmond, Va., the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, Tenn. and the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio.

Brittany joins her sister, Funny Car points leader Courtney Force, in representing the brand.

“We are excited to have Brittany Force joining Courtney in representing the Advance Auto Parts brand throughout the month of June,” said Yogi Jashnani, senior vice president, marketing, insights and analytics for Advance Auto Parts. “Brittany and Courtney will be instrumental in launching our new advertising campaign – one that builds upon our Mission: Passion for Customers…Passion for Yes!”

Oehler hopes for home track advantage at Joliet

“Flyin’ Ryan” Oehler will make his first appearance as an NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle racer at Route 66 Raceway this weekend. It’s like coming home for the Bloomington, IL, racer, who first drove a Camaro SS at the track when he was 16.

Now 34 years old, Oehler is a candidate for NHRA’s Road to the Future award (Rookie of the Year) riding an S&S-powered Buell. The two-time American Motorcycle Racing Association (AMRA) Pro Modified champion has moved up to the NHRA ranks full time this year.

Are you burned out?  Want to set a record?

Now NHRA Pro Stock racer Deric Kramer really knows how to do a burnout!

Want to be a part of history? Lynne and Greg Ryan, owners of Mid-South Dragway in Dyersburg, TN, have recently been cleared by Guinness World Records officials for an attempt at the most simultaneous burnouts. The little eighth-mile on the eastern bank of the Mississippi River in the “five-state” corner of Tennessee bordered by Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois and Kentucky will be the site of the attempt on Sunday, June 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The current Guinness-certified record of cars conducting burnouts at once is 119, a record set in Saudi Arabia in 2017. Anybody with any automobile can be a part of the record attempt. Lynne and Greg only ask each entrant to bring their own wheel chocks for safety.

Each entrant will get free racing for the rest of the day at the track. Spectators not with participants will be charged $5 at the gate. Gates open at 9 a.m. for participants and 11:30 a.m. for spectators. The Ryans hope to fire off the World’s Largest Simultaneous Car Tyre Burnout (the official Guinness title) at noon. Concession stands will be open.

Contact Mid-South Dragway via their Facebook page to let them know you want to be a part of it so they can keep an accurate count of entries. Contestants can also contact Lynne Ryan directly at 708-268-0554. It should also be noted the Ryans are looking for individuals or companies to sponsor the event. The program could end up delivering global coverage!

Stoltz on the mend

The Agent is happy to report that DRO photographer Dave Stoltz has left the hospital and is convalescing at home under the care of his wife, Jody. (Jeez, he could at least have worn his DRO shirt.)

G’Day, Mate!

A note in the old mayo jar high atop the second story penthouse porch of the Phlegm Building tells the Agent that Darren Mayer of Darren Mayer Performance Engineering is on his way to Australia for a twelve day stay and working vacation during the ANDRA Winternationals, June 7-10 at Willowbank raceway.

Can McBride defend DME title at Rockingham?

Swedish doorslammer racing hero Adam Flamholc also wanted to get in on the grudge racing action, so he’s called out any fellow racer in Bryant Industrial Pro Extreme presented by Pro Line Racing. Flamholc, the Pro Extreme winner at Maryland last month, says he’ll race anyone in Pro Extreme for $1,000 in Friday qualifying. He hopes the added incentive – piled on top of the $10,000 event winner payout – will help draw more cars and put more eyes on the series’ quickest and fastest class.

Friday qualifying will also feature a burnout contest for racers in Liberty’s Gears Extreme Pro Stock and MagnaFuel Top Sportsman. Drivers who make a pass during the last qualifying session on Friday are automatically entered into the contest, which is sponsored by Race Hard Apparel in Extreme Pro Stock and Classic Graphix in Top Sportsman. The burnout contest winners, picked by the announcers based on the crowd’s reaction, will receive $300 and a trophy.

On top of the on-track action, the PDRA Summer Drags will include a live performance by country recording artist Tony Bakker. Bakker, a West Michigan native, will perform from 8-10 p.m. Friday night. The concert is included in all Friday spectator tickets.

OREC facility opens Saturday, June 2

It’s not 100% completed, but racing will take place on Saturday, June 2, at the Onawa Racing and Events Complex in Onawa, IA. The plan is to do test & tune and fun runs in order to get more rubber on the virgin race surface.

“Essentially, for lack of a better term, this is a no-prep surface with some prep,” explained consultant Scott Gardner. “Sure, we could wait another week or month and have one of the best surfaces in the country, but we need to just get opened.”

The first Friday Fun Night event will be held Friday, June 8, with the Fan and Racer Appreciation event on June 9.

Red Line Launches New Gear Oil

Red Line has released its new low-viscosity manual transmission fluid, MT-LV 70W/75W GL-4 Gear Oil. The new MT-LV manual transmission oil is a high-performance alternative to 70W/75W OEM branded fluids, and will maintain factory warranties. Red Line’s goal with MT-LV 70W/75W GL-4 Gear Oil is to improve the shift quality in both daily driven vehicles and high-performance applications. MT-LV eliminates notchy shifting and reduces friction, which increases power transfer and extends the life of the transmission. Red Line’s superior base stocks make MT-LV more resistant to thermal breakdown in higher temperatures. Available in quarts or gallons. Made in the USA.
