Frankie Taylor again to compete with Ben Bray in Australian event

Taylor got the Pro Slammer win last November at the ACDelco East Coast Thunder.

Australian second-generation Ben Bray will be joined by U.S. drag racer Frankie Taylor at the Santo’s Summer Thunder taking place at Sydney Dragway. The one-day event will be this Saturday, Jan. 20.

Taylor drove a second car for Team Bray Racing at Willowbank Raceway’s New Years Thunder event earlier this month. Bray had to return to the States after that race, but will be back Down Under in time for some Friday night testing for the Sydney race.

“I am really enjoying racing with TBR and to be fifth in the championship so far even though I missed out on round one of the Series is pretty pleasing,” said Taylor. “Hopefully, I can advance those standing a little further moving forward.”

Ben Bray sits third in the Pro Slammer points.

Tim Stewart aims for fourth final round in a row

He broke through for his first-ever ANDRA Christmas Tree at Mildura earlier this season, and since then Melbourne, Australia-based Supercharged Outlaws racer Tim Stewart hasn’t looked back.

In the last three events he has raced – starting with Mildura – Stewart has been to the finals every time, securing the event win two out of those three times. What makes this even more impressive is the fact that Stewart’s ‘THE STANG’ ‘66 Fast back Funny Car is new for him and his crew this season.

Now, the 56-year-old Director of Fire Fighting Systems is looking to make it four from four finals at this weekend’s South Coast 660 at South Coast Raceway (January 20-21) – round seven of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series.

Thanks to his efforts at rounds three, four and six of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series (he missed round five due to work commitments), Stewart has reached the maximum points threshold in the championship (300 points) and so has some wiggle room at Portland this weekend.

“We are planning to hopefully make some changes with the engine’s performance, as it is still a soft tune and we want to see if we can qualify a bit higher up the order,” said Stewart. “We will also concentrate on different staging ideas to improve reaction times.”

Kenjo Kelley preps for move to Pro Mod

Kenjo Kelley has made his mark in small-tire racing, but will be putting big slicks on a 2015 Mustang Pro Mod at the U.S. Street Nationals Jan. 26-28 at Bradenton Motorsports Park.

In addition, Kelley plans to run in the Radial vs. The World class at Donald Long’s races. “If the Street Outlaws get rid of the steel roof and quarters rule we will race some No Prep with it, too,” Kelley adds.

New Product of the Day

FAST Bump Stager Trans-Brake Controller

FAST’s XFI fuel injection system has a cool feature for drag racing. The ‘transcreep’ function allows you to carefully pulse the trans-brake, enabling your vehicle to move forward slowly during staging. The Bump Stager Trans-Brake Controller gives you that technology even if you don’t run a FAST XFI setup. It can be used with any car with a trans-brake, carbureted or fuel injected, and is perfect for turbo cars that need to come up on boost at launch. The kit comes with the controller and features a built-in 20-amp driver that eliminates the need to wire in an external relay in most cases. The Bump Stager is compatible with most aftermarket trans-brakes.
