Englishtown ceases drag racing but venue remains open

No one knew last year that storm clouds were on the horizon for the Englishtown, NJ, track.

The Napp family, owners of Old Bridge Township Raceway Park, have announced they will no longer host drag racing beginning immediately.

The “stadium” portion of the venue including the VIP hospitality tower and grandstands will be used for car shows, swap meets, drifting, motocross and kart racing. There also will be a full schedule of road course activities, mud runs, monster truck shows, music concerts, festival events and more. The airport will continue to operate as usual.

The Napp family opened the E-town facility in 1965.

The 49th annual NHRA Summernationals that was scheduled for June has now been cancelled.
