NHRA’s top drag racers from tracks across the Northwest division will be at Woodburn Dragstrip to square off in head-to-head competition at the 40th annual NHRA Summit Racing Series Northwest Division Finals, Sept. 1-3.
Drivers in eight classes: Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, Motorcycle/Snowmobile, High School, Jr. Street and two NHRA Summit Jr. Drag Racing League classes, will be on hand to compete for team and individual honors at the event.
Sunday’s action will also feature the Race of Champions where the best racers from each track in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle/Snowmobile will compete for top honors and a chance to compete for the Summit National Championship at the Auto Club NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, in November. They will run against the winners from NHRA’s other six divisions for a $5,000 winner-take-all purse. [08/31/17]

The NMCA All-American Nationals were held Aug. 24-27 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, OH.
In the Xtreme Pro Mod qualifying, 13 of the 24 cars made 3-second passes. Billy Banaka led the field with a 3.78 in his Camaro, but in the final Jason Hamstra’s Camaro ran 3.86 to Banaka’s 4.05.

The drivers in Gear Vendors True Street hung on through a late night of racing, and in the end, Justin May was the overall winner with an 8.23 average in his Firebird and Mike Martyn was the runner-up with an 8.72 average in his Mustang. George Chaboudy, III was the 9-second winner in his Mustang, Jeff Brady was the 10-second winner in his Camaro; Scott Smith was the 11-second winner in his Camaro; Nicholas Massengale was the 12-second winner in his Camaro; Pat Tyner took the 13-second win in his Mustang and Anthony Jager took the 14-second win in his Mustang.
Additional special components of this race were the Ford Performance Cobra Jet Showdown presented by Diversified Products Marketing, which Paul Roderick won with a 9.07 on a 9.04 over Rick Rodgers, who turned in an 8.90 on an 8.92. John Calvert won the Cobra Jet Challenge.
FSC Bracket 1 Box winner Bryan Yaeger opted to split the purse with Bracket 2 finalists AJ Buchanan and Tim Jordan.

Following a very successful five-race stint as title sponsor of two-time Pro Stock world champion Erica Enders and her Elite Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro, Melling Performance announced a contract extension through the end of the 2017 season with the most acclaimed female driver in Pro Stock history.
Melling Performance initiated its involvement in the world's quickest and fastest motorsport after CEO Mark Melling attended one of the Charlotte drag races in 2016.
"All I knew was NASCAR," Melling said. "Coming to the drag races really opened my eyes to what a great sport the NHRA has going. If you can't get excited about all the horsepower going on out there, you're not a race fan whatsoever." [08/31/17]

Because of rain during the 16th Annual Quick Fuel Technology NMCA Bluegrass Nationals, presented by Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center, in mid-May at Beech Bend Raceway in Kentucky, the semifinal and final rounds for Wiseco BoostLine Connecting Rods Drag Radial were completed at Summit Motorsports Park. The win went to Anthony Manna, whose Camaro clocked a 4.39, while Andy Essary was the runner-up in his Trans Am with a 4.49.
The next stop on the Chevrolet Challenge Series tour is the 9th Annual Holley LS Fest, Sept. 8-10 at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, KY. [08/31/17]
The Canadian Mageau Family Racing will be adding a 1948 Fiat Topolino Altered to their stable of Funny Cars, “Prospector” and “Girl Trouble.” The “Nitro Hobo” will compete in the 6.0 class at NHRA Hot Rod Heritage events in 2018. [08/31/17]
