Here is a note attached to a discarded pair of Detroit Red Wing solar eclipse sunglasses found sealed in a Planters peanut jar on the porch of the Phlegm Building: Drag racing legend and driving school instructor Roy Hill was in attendance at this past weekend’s Woodward Dream Cruise along with his Ford Cobra Mustang stable and Jr. Dragster. Always the promoter of drag racing, Hill entertained a large group of youths throughout the day and invited them along with their families to attend the Chevrolet Performance NHRA U.S. Nationals Labor Day weekend where he will be running one of his Roy Hill Drag Racing School Ford Mustangs. The 13th annual HOT ROD Drag Week is back to determine the title of Fastest Street Car in America at the Sept. 10-15 competition.
Competitors will be put to a grueling test over five days of drag racing and upward of 1,000 miles covered in the same car with the same engine, all to determine who will earn the title Fastest Street Car in America. An impressive display of vehicles will also be open at each stop.
“HOT ROD Drag Week powered by Dodge and brought to you by Gear Vendors Overdrive is an unmatched validation of man and machine,” said Douglas Glad, Content Director for TEN’s Aftermarket Performance Group. “Both on the track and off, racers push themselves and their cars to the literal breaking point. Long hours, 1,000-plus street miles, and on-track torture testing are all part of the equation for ultimate victory and fastest street car in America bragging rights.”
