Andras edges Tharpe for first TF Harley win of season

Randal Andras was able to take his No. 1 qualifying position to a win in the final round of Top Fuel Harley at the Winternationals. He met defending champion Tii Tharpe in the final round, the first time the two competed in a final. Andras was off the line first with a .019 RT to a .044 for Tharpe. Although Andras’s bike moved towards the center line down track, Tharpe could not take advantage and Andras got the win with a 6.346 at 191.62 mph to Tharpe’s 6.569/189.02.

Nitrous Supply buys Edelbrock nitrous inventory

Mike Thermos, the co-founder of NOS and owner of Nitrous Supply, has acquired the complete inventory of nitrous oxide-related components from Edelbrock.

Edelbrock offers nitrous oxide kits, accessories, controllers, bottles, jets, nozzles, and more.

“Back some twenty years ago when we sold NOS to Holley, Vic Edelbrock, Jr. saw an opportunity and expanded his company into nitrous oxide…which included hiring some of our former employees who did not want to relocate. But today, their corporate focus is on other products, so we’ve come to an agreement to take the nitrous oxide portion of Edelbrock’s business,” Thermos said.

Off the Track: Corvette Museum opens Big Daddy Roth exhibit

The National Corvette Museum has teamed up with Tom Peters, retired Director of Exterior Design for the 8th Generation Stingray Corvette, to put together a new exhibit: Car-toon Creatures, Kustom Kars and Corvettes: The Art and Influence of Ed ‘Big Daddy’ Roth.

Roth was a central figure in the 1950s and ’60s Kustom Kulture era of automobile history, becoming a cultural phenomenon himself in the process. Roth is perhaps best known for his “Rat Fink” character.

”Yellow Fang” was an aluminum streamliner slingshot dragster designed by Roth and Steve Swaja. It was owned by George “Bushmaster” Schreiber.

The exhibit features a recreation of Roth’s garage, several Roth-designed cars, a 1960s toy store with model kits and vintage toys inspired by the builder, as well as numerous cars that were inspired by Roth.

The exhibit opened on Jan. 31 and continues through December 2020.
