Race 2 of the Victory NSS points series had the classic Super Stocks helping to headline the Eddyville Nostalgia Nationals on June 9-10.
Friday night had 30 Victory Super Stocks on hand ready to qualify for Saturday’s Eliminations. The Big Block multi-carbed muscle cars made three rounds of Qualifying on Friday evening to the delight of an excited crowd. Saturday brought a bright, sunny day and an even larger crowd to enjoy the beautiful facility at Eddyville. The Victory cars made one final qualifying pass in the afternoon to set the Ladder.
Sitting at the top of the field was the Queen of Victory NSS, Rosie Kossuth. She edged out Bob Lantero by .005 of a second to take the coveted pole position and the $100 B&K Trucking Award.
The Main Show began promptly at 6 p.m. and the Victory Cars rolled to the Lanes for Round 1 of Eliminations. Lantero took out his frustrations on just missing the No. 1 qualifying position by slapping a .003 Reaction Time win over Randy Spurgeon. Randy’s brother, Dennis Spurgeon, moved on with a victory over Jim Brandon. Jim Hagenhoff and his high flying Hemi Plymouth defeated last year’s Champion, Tom Hoffman. Tim Frees’ nice .02 RT was enough to hold off the hard charging Hemi of Don Bruemmer. Shaun Johnston started his march to the Finals with a win over Jeff Roberts.
Phil Cathey's Plymouth was one of many Mopars at Eddyville.
Dick Monaco gave the Ford fans someone to cheer for.
The Victory cars cooled and refueled and quickly returned for Round 2
